Successor: Black Rock Bandits

Game ready characters I made during my internship at Playwood Project for the game Successor with the help and supervision of Johannes Donner Schackinger.
A cave mountain dwelling faction of bandits that has come to tame the giant bats of the region.
All characters are modeled in zbrush and lowpoly in maya, textured in substance painter and rigged in Character creator 4. All bandits are also made to be modular. Parts can be switched, removed and reused as necessary to quickly assemble new characters and assets.

Designing all characters to look unique while at the same time be discernible at a glance was a tough but fun challenge, and some of the bandits evolved quite a bit from the concept stage to the finished 3d models. Even the bat ended up sharing some of the units iconic yellow while the rest of the bandits share equipment and tools.
The lanterns ended up being one of my favorite design details, as its glow makes them stand out and I think it does a good job at hinting at their life in the dark caverns.

The materials for the display base, untextured human base model, rocks and plants have not been made by me.

Concepts for the bandits. It was important that all the bandits sported some of their iconic yellow in some way. I also wanted them to have some reference to the bats they control, such as fangs, fur or wings. The lanterns also became a shared item.
